Step 2 - Application - online

The City of Windsor prefers to accept applications for the 2011 Fire Fighter Recruitment online.  Applications that are delivered in person to the Human Resources office of the City of Windsor located at 171 Goyeau Street, Windsor, Ontario will be entered online and the applicant's receipt will be issued at that time.  There is no advantage to providing an application in person, so for that and convenience reasons, we urge applicants to apply online.

Upon submission of an application, the applicant will receive an application/confirmation number online and also via email (if a valid email address is provided).  Retain this application/confirmation number as this is how applicants will be identified by the City of Windsor throughout the recruitment process.

The application step is now closed.  No late applications will be accepted.

Step 3 - Application - review

The City of Windsor will review all applications ensuring that they meet the minimum requirements to move forward in the process.  Applicants that meet the minimum requirements at time of application will be contacted by the City of Windsor informing them of the next step(s) in the process that they will have to undertake in order to continue in the competition.

Please note that failure to pass any step will eliminate an applicant from the competition and that the Fire Fighter recruitment is subject to change.

Step 4 - Aptitude and Assessment Tests

The non-refundable cost is $175.00 plus HST for the written tests, properly called the CPS - Entry Fire Fighter test (aptitude) and the OS - Fire Fighting Assessment test.  Payments must be made at a City of Windsor Customer Care Centre between May 5, 2011 and May 18, 2011.

The tests will be conducted during the dates shown in the table above.

For more information on the Aptitude and Assessment tests, please review the Writing the Aptitude Test and Passed Written sections of the Windsor Fire Fighter Recruitment FAQ.

Please note that failure to pass any step will eliminate an applicant from the competition and that the Fire Fighter recruitment is subject to change.

Step 5 - Physical Fitness Test

The non-refundable cost is $275.00 plus HST for the test.  The test will be the York University Fire Fighter Fitness test developed by Dr. Norman Gledhill.

The tests will be conducted by the University of Windsor during the dates shown in the table above.

For more information on the Physical Fitness test, please review the Agility and Passed Agility sections of the Windsor Fire Fighter Recruitment FAQ.

Previous Physical Fitness test results can be used if the testing method was the York University Fire Fighter Fitness Test developed by Dr. Norman Gledhill and the test was taken within 6 months (March 19, 2011 through July 15, 2011) from the City of Windsor's anticipated hiring date.  The applicant will be required to produce a certificate from Dr. Gledhill indicating successful completion of the testing.  The City will also contact Dr. Gledhill to confirm the testing dates and successful completion.

When available, test results will be posted and available on the 2011 Fitness York Test Results page.

Please note that failure to pass any step will eliminate an applicant from the competition and that the Fire Fighter recruitment process is subject to change.
