The Engineering Department is led by the City Engineer and is composed of five divisions within two branches:

  • Mario Sonego, P. Eng., City Engineer
  • France Isabelle-Tunks, P.Eng., Senior Manager of Infrastructure Coordination and Development
  • Wesley Hicks, P.Eng., Senior Manager of Infrastructure and Transportation Planning / Deputy City Engineer

Geomatics Division

  • Manages the City's Geographic Information System and provides CAD and GIS support for the Department and various Corporate Departments and Divisions.

Right-of-Way Division

Infrastructure and Transportation Planning Branch

Infrastructure Planning Division

    • Oversees engineering, design and construction of infrastructure projects on the public right-of-way, including new roads, bridges, intersection improvements, sanitary and storm sewers, municipal drains, sidewalks, bus bays, and streetlighting, including estimating of Local Improvements.
    • Responsibilities include overall project management through estimating, budgeting, design, tendering and contract administration through both city staff and consulting engineering firms, infrastructure system analysis and studies, and the investigation of basement flooding, analysis and reporting of same.

Transportation Planning Division

  • The Transportation Planning Division is primarily responsible for short and long-range transportation planning, involving such functions as collection and analysis of traffic data, traffic impact studies, and Environmental Assessment reports.
